Martin Lawlor was on hand today to help 5th class plant a ‘Butterfly Garden’ in support of Emma Fogarty from Abbeyleix, Patient Ambassador of Debra Ireland and all those living with EB. UKG Kilkenny partnered with Debra Ireland to help raise awareness and distribute wildflower seeds to schools across Ireland.

Ann Shortall made us aware of this and was extremely kind in giving the school lots of lovely wildflower seeds for the garden and we hope our flowers will blossom and attract lots of lovely butterflies come the Spring. 5th class were very inspired by listening to Emma’s story and some had seen her interview on The Late Late Show last Friday. We wish Emma the very best of luck in all her endeavours.

Thank you Martin and Ann! 🙂

In other news, 5th class had a project to complete in October in line with their STEM Education- design and create a Bug Hotel! Check out their amazing projects in the pictures below (we even got to show Senior Infants). We will be keeping a close eye on the hotels in the coming months to see are they weatherproof and most importantly to track what kind of wildlife appear. Thank you to everyone who helped bring their designs to life!
