A massive thank you to Martin and Mary Lawlor who invited 4th and 5th classes to their home last week. Martin gave the children a tour of his garden and tunnels and Mary was on hand with treats at the end.

Martin and Mary were back with us today planting our new Sensory Garden. 5th class and members of 6th class were on hand to plant different shrubbery, flowers and herbs. In September we will make this a truly great space!

We intend to create a space designed to stimulate children’s five senses in an engaging and educational way. It will be used to enhance learning across the curriculum, providing hands-on experiences for science, promoting well-being and mindfulness through calm exploration of different textures and scents, and fostering creativity and imagination through sensory play. Furthermore, it would offer a therapeutic environment for children with diverse learning needs, acting as a quiet retreat or a space for targeted sensory regulation activities, ultimately enriching the overall school experience for all pupils.

Our raised beds and sunflowers are also doing well, thanks to the continued care by 5th class, well done!
