STEM and The School Garden

Another busy week in Our Lady’s Meadow. 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th classes had the opportunity to share their STEM creations with each other. 5th and 6th classes officially began their series of lessons with Martin Lawlor who also very kindly gifted us our new polytunnel. Thank you so much Martin!

World Book Day 2026

Pupils enjoyed dressing up for World Book Day 2026 and talking about their favourite books. Pupils were also delighted after receiving some new books for their classroom libraries, a suggestion that was brought up at a recent student council meeting. iCloud Photos (48)

Student Council News

Yoga

Our whole school is really enjoying our block of Yoga classes. These classes are so beneficial to the children in Our Lady’s Meadow.

Handball

Congratulations to the boys who recently took part in the annual, county level Cumann na mBunscol Laoise Handball tournament on Friday 6th February in Cullohill Handball Club. Peace Proms 2026

A massive well done to our 4th, 5th and 6th class pupils for taking part in Peace Proms 2026, you did us so proud. A massive thank you to everyone involved in the production also.

2nd Class- The Solar System

Second Class have been learning all about Our Solar System. They created rockets last week using materials from home. Everyone put in a brilliant effort and made fantastic presentations, explaining what they had used and how they had made their rockets. Well done!

5th and 6th Class Christmas Fair

Durrow Fire Brigade

Thank you to the members of Durrow Fire Brigade who visited pupils in 2nd and 3rd class this week to discuss fire safety. They also showed the pupils some safety equipment and the different areas of the fire engine!

Advent Wreaths in Second Class

Second Class enjoyed a fabulous wreath-making workshop with the knowledgeable Martin Lawlor recently. Martin demonstrated how an Advent Wreath is made using an oasis, foliage and berries. Science Week in OLM

Well done to the boys and girls in 4th, 5th and 6th classes who presented a Science Show for their younger school mates on Thursday, November 27th. The investigations and experiments were very interesting and took a lot of preparation, so they should be very proud of their efforts.
